LACONIA --- David A. Hough, 82, of Blueberry Lane, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center – Genisis.
David was born on April 15, 1944, in Laconia, NH, the son of the late Richard Hough and Lena Rose (Paige) Hough. He graduated from Laconia High School in 1962.
David worked as a cash register repairman and programmer at Capital Cash Register for over 25 years, and at Lowes for over 15 years. He taught people how to program computers on the Commodore Vic 20 in 1980 and the Commodore in 1982. He loved riding motorcycles, and was a part of the Weirs Riot back in 1965, in the National Guard. As a history buff and avid genealogist, David conducted research in old cemeteries in the region to be able to mark unmarked graves. He also would often go to Maine and Vermont with his grandchildren to take tours of historic battle forts. David loved geocaching, and often had his grandchildren come along for the adventure.
David was the Supervisor of Checklist for Ward 4, in Laconia, NH. He was also the county coordinator for the Belknap branch of NH Genweb.
David is survived by his son Scott Durgin (Tracey); daughter Vicky Hanover (Jamin Donovan); brother Andre Hough (Karen); sisters Judy Price and Mona Mattuzi; grandchildren LeeAnn Havlock, Samantha Hicks, Cody Durgin, Tanya Hicks, Andrew Hicks, Christopher Hicks, Skyler Durgin, Paige Downing, Drew Downing, and Kristyn DeBlois (Christopher); great-grandchildren Lilian, Nova, Kacey, Abby and Haven; niece Linda; nephews Lenny and Richard; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his wife Darlene (Dubois) Hough; brothers Brian Hough, Eddy Hough, Paul Hough, and Chris Hough; sister Margaret Hawkins; and step-son Jason Durgin.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 11:00am – 1:00 pm, in the Carriage House, at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
