Tony Sumner, 71, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 2PM, Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Pinetta Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The family will receive friends, from 6-8, on Saturday afternoon at the Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.
Mr. Sumner was born December 18, 1954, in Irwin County, Georgia, to Betty Ruth Bryant Sumner & the late Willis Crawford Sumner. He graduated from Irwin County High School and later attended East Central Technical College to obtain a certificate in welding. He retired after 20 plus years as a welder for KMC in Tifton. Mr. Sumner enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and University of Georgia football. He enjoyed playing the piano and was a lifetime member of Pinetta Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter; Megan Sumner & Hunter Witt; stepchildren: Robert Upton and Jennifer Watson & Ryan; seven grandchildren: Eric Witt, Neil Witt, Raleigh Upton, Bree Upton, Reed Watson, Emily Watson, and Harlyn Watson; a brother, John David Sumner & Sharon. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Gibbs Upton Sumner and an infant daughter, Kayla Amanda Sumner.
Paulk Funeral Home, Ocilla, is in charge of arrangements.
