Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Peck Warner passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on August 5, 2026. Born March 23, 1926 in Ashtabula OH, Pat graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1948. She accepted Dick Warner’s marriage proposal high atop Alta (UT) ski area and they married in 1955. They settled in Wellesley in 1961 with their two young children and lived there until 2015.

A life-long professional volunteer, Pat rolled up her sleeves early on to advocate for the expansion of the original Wellesley Free Library. She was active with the WGBH Channel Two Auction for many years, where she established the Two Collection, a juried selection of art donated to the Auction.  Relationships with contemporary artists led her to the MFA’s Department of Decorative Arts where she helped mount “Glass Today,” the museum’s first exhibition dedicated to contemporary studio glass. Next stop was Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, where she was involved with  numerous exhibits showcasing artists working in wood, ceramics, glass, metal and fiber.

Pat and her late husband Dick developed lifelong ties to contemporary crafts artists. Their home in Wellesley reflected their passion for collecting pieces, but more importantly forging relationships with the artists themselves.

After Dick’s death in 2015 Pat moved to North Hill Retirement Community in Needham, where she aged actively and gracefully. She continued her life’s passion of making connections among an ever-widening circle of friends.  As part of her second act in life, she became an activist for women in politics and social justice. This past March Pat celebrated her 100th birthday with many friends and family.

Pat is survived by her son Chuck and wife Sally Cragin of Fitchburg MA and daughter Anne Costello and husband Pat of Newton MA. She was the loving “Grammy” to Christopher and Jet Warner and Amelia and Jillian Costello.

Burial services will be private. A celebration of her amazing life will be held at North Hill in Needham this fall. Pat’s family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at North Hill for ten years of love, support and compassion. Gifts in her memory can be made to the North Hill Team Member Support Fund, 865 Central Ave, Needham MA 02492.  Alternatively, purchase something nice from your favorite artist!
