In loving memory of Carol Lane Nolan.
Born in Providence RI, December 9th, 1935. She was happily married to the late George W. Nolan for 64 years. She met George at the diner where she waitressed before beginning her career as a nurse. She knew he would order his regular - liver and onions. The rest is history. They lived in both Seekonk, and Eastham, MA.
She was the daughter of Charles Cummings and Dorothy Higgins. She was predeceased by her sister, Robin Falco of Florida. She is survived by her sister Joni Cummings of Eastham, MA and brother Dave Cummings of Mesa, Arizona. She leaves two sons, Paul C. Nolan and wife Susan of Tiverton, RI and Glenn W. Nolan of Seekonk, MA. Her two grandchildren meant the world to her: Wyatt J. Nolan and Garrett C. Nolan both of Tiverton, RI.
Carol was an LPN, and worked at RI Hospital (which she nicknamed “the Zoo"), Evergreen Nursing Home and Riverside Nursing Home for many years until retiring. Many younger nurses often sought out her experienced advice.
Carol spent much of her youth on Cape Cod with family and friends, eventually building a cottage in Eastham next to her father, and other family members.
She was a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol in her youth. Ironically, she hated flying, and wouldn’t set foot on a plane.
She was fond of telling us about the wildlife on the Cape that she observed as a child, such as the Bobwhite's, whippoorwills, an amazing number of fireflies, pilot whales, and of course the abundance of shellfish in the Bay. She continued to make delicious Quahog chowder from the same recipe that her dad always used.
Carol and George spent much of their retirement years at their Eastham cottage enjoying the sunsets at the bay, walks on the beach, and nature trails, occasionally hosting family and friends, and taking it easy.
In her last few years, she stayed at her Seekonk home making sure that the bird bath and feeder were full, so she could sit on the porch rocking chair watching them.
She had a wonderful, childlike innocence and sense of humor that those who really knew her will miss dearly.
