Obituary

Irving Weinberg, a resident of Revere for over 50 years, died suddenly on September 23, 2006 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett after having an asthma attack in his home. He was 72 years old.

Born in Boston on February 18, 1934, the son of the late Abraham and Katie (Levenstein) Weinberg, Irving was raised in East Boston and attended the Boston Public Schools. In his teenage years Irving had a desire to join the United States Marines, however due to pre-existing medical reasons he was unable to enlist. He spent the majority of his working years employed in the food service industry throughout the Boston and Revere area. Irving will be fondly remembered for his love of all animals, especially birds, and for his many acts of kindness and generosity to others. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his twin sister, Sarah Weinberg who died in 2001.

Irving is survived by two brothers, Arthur, with whom he made his residence in Revere, and Herbert Wineberg and his wife Elsie also of Revere. He was the beloved uncle of Madelyn (Wineberg) Purdy and her husband Doug of Sandwich, Barry Wineberg and his wife Renee of Revere, and Larry Wineberg and his wife Janet of Revere. Irving was also the loving great-uncle of Justin, Sean, Amanda, Shaina, Christopher, and Cori.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Ohel Jacob Cemetery, Woburn. Rabbi Yitchak Zev Rabinowitz of Congregation Beth Israel of Malden will officiate. Shiva will be held at his late residence through Thursday evening. Those wishing to remember Irving may do so through memorial donations to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd. #400, Waltham, MA 02451-1991.
