Larry Gene Day, 77, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, August 3, 2026, at Harmony Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Brushy Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating.
Mr. Day was born March 20, 1949, in Douglas, Georgia, to the Late Joel & Mae Blount Day. He graduated from Irwin County High School and played football for the Irwin County Indians while in high school. Mr. Day was a diesel mechanic, and he enjoyed coaching little league baseball and playing golf at the Ocilla County Club where he was a member. Mr. Day attended Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children Michael Day & Sheryl, Richard Day and Deborah Day; grandchildren: Ashley Switzer & Andrew, Joel Day, Josey Day, Kara Day and Nick Furches; step-grandchildren: Lauralee Williams & Matthew, Lendley Bobbit & Davis and Jake Gibbs; great-grandchildren: Riley Day, Remy Day and Penelope Williams; a sister-in-law, Betty Hawes & Joe and a brother-in-law, Billy Roberts & Bonnie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Roberts Day.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the employees of Harmony Health, formerly Life Care Center of Fitzgerald, for the care of Mr. Day.
