Obituary

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of ALFONSO FERNANDO NICOLA DeBENEDICTIS, age 68, on July 31, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 27, 1958 in Manocalzati, Italy, and raised in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Fonso, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion to his Catholic Faith, and enduring love for family. Preceded in death by his beloved father, Carlo, and survived by his adoring mother, Concetta (Accomando) DeBenedictis. Cherished sibling of Angelo (and his wife Erica), Louie, Lina (and her husband Joe MacDonald), Tony, and Geraldina (and her husband Martin Serrette). Devoted uncle to Andrew, Carlo, Jennie, Michael, Mark, Samantha and great-nephew Jordan, in whom he found immense joy. He leaves behind an extended family of beloved aunts, uncles and cousins in the U.S. and Italy. Alfonso was an avid reader with an extensive library of books largely related to cooking and languages. He will be remembered for his creativity, love of gardening, scratch foods and wine making. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Alfonso’s life during Visiting Hours on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 4-7PM at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower Street, (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain, MA. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 97 South Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, followed by interment at St. Michael Cemetery.
