In Loving Memory of Charlene A. Eberhardt
We mournfully announce the death of Charlene Anne Eberhardt on July 9, 2026, in
Ventura, California, just short of her 46th birthday. She was born on July 22, 1980, in Tarzana,
California. Charlene attended Quartz Hill High School in Lancaster, California. While living in
Lancaster, she attended and volunteered for Central Christian Church, serving as a youth group
leader. She then moved to the Ventura County region with her family, where she spent the
remainder of her life. After moving, she continued volunteering with her mother for
organizations like Altrusa International.
In 2000, Charlene gave birth to her first child, Alyssa. In 2023, Alyssa and Skylar Martin
gave birth to their daughter, Brinley, making Charlene a grandmother. She became a grandmother
again in 2025 with the birth of their son, Braxton.
Charlene met her husband, Jed, in 2004, and the pair subsequently built a wonderful life
together centered around raising their children, Peyton, Riley, and Jackson. Charlene was a
highly devoted wife and mother. Often described as selfless and nurturing by those around her,
she would drop everything if it meant she could be there to support her loved ones. She adored
taking her children to sports practices and outings, even if they were miles away from home.
Most importantly, however, she always expressed how proud she was of all her children, and
took great pride in knowing they would all go on to do great things in life. Peyton credits her
mother’s guidance and perseverance with inspiring her to attend UCLA. Riley believes the
fighting spirit and leadership skills she brings to the softball field came directly from Charlene.
Jackson cherishes the memories he shared with his mother, and says her love and encouragement
continue to inspire him to pursue his passions, including gaming.
Among many things, Charlene enjoyed cooking, traveling, and watching movies with her
family. Of all the places she visited with her family, she loved those surrounded by nature the
most. Some of the family’s most beloved memories of her are at places such as Yosemite, Pismo
Beach, and the Grand Canyon, to name a few. Besides nature, Charlene also adored vacations to
places where she knew her whole family could have fun, like Disneyland. She described the
theme park countless times to both family and friends as her “happy place.”
She is survived by her spouse, Jed Carter; her children, Peyton, Riley, and Jackson Carter,
as well as Alyssa Martin; her grandchildren, Brinley and Braxton Martin; her in-laws, Donna,
Darrell, and Jennifer Carter; her parents, Lynne and Bill Eberhardt; her brother, William Benaso
Blanshan; her extended family members, Thomas Eberhardt, Amy Eberhardt, Sandra Ward, and
Molly and Dale Hills; her friends, Rachelle, Jenni, and Annie; and many other beloved family
members and friends. Forever in our hearts, may she rest in peace.
