SPRINGFIELD - Thomas H. Owens, 93, of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, July 24, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Knoxville, TN on October 22, 1932, a beloved son of the late Clyde Owens and Emma (Hinkle) Duval. He was raised and educated in Knoxville and later lived in Cincinnati, OH before moving to Springfield in the early 1950's. He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Airman First Class. He was employed as a meat cutter at the former Hampden Beef Company in Springfield. He later worked at the former B&B Market in East Longmeadow. During his leisure time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and enjoyed visiting friends at the American Legion where he was a longtime member. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Shirley M. (Bernier) Owens who was Called Home on April 6, 1986. He leaves his two loving daughters, Denise L. Mackenzie and Donna M. Lancto and her husband, Brian, all of Ludlow; his seven cherished grandchildren, Krystal and Laura Owens, Brandon, Brett and Ambrea Mackenzie, Brian Lancto, Jr. and Danielle Lancto; his ten cherished great grandchildren, Dakota, Christian, Andrew, Joseph, Julian, Serena, Keira, Rowen, Aaliyah and Alanna; his dear sister, Diane of Indiana; his dear brother, David Duval of Ohio; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his loving son, Russell P. Owens; his loving daughter, Sherry A. Owens; his loving son in law, Richard C. Mackenzie; and his dear brother, William Owens. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow the Celebration of Life Service at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
