Walter W. Sussenguth a Needham resident for 48 years died on Thursday September 21, 2006 at his home. He was 85 years old. Born in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of the late Emily (Espelin) and Charles Sussenguth. Walter was a graduate of Holyoke High School and Boston University where he received a CBA. A World War II veteran, Mr. Sussenguth served with the U.S. Army Air Corps, Headquarters Squadron, 7th Service group in the South Pacific. He worked for Fred S. James Insurance for 40 years. Upon his retirement, he founded Walter W. Sussenguth and Associates in Canton, where he sold college health insurance nationally until his retirement in 2004. An avid fishing and hunting sportsman, Walter spent many hours in West Newfield ME, where he enjoyed both. The beloved husband of Marilyn (Gates) Sussenguth, he was the loving father of Gary T. of Needham, Gail S. McLeod and her husband Bradford of Town and Country,MO and Karen S. Tiberi and her husband Louis of Needham. Brother of Myrtle Dean of Needham, Paul Sussenguth and his wife Marie of Needham and the late Charles E. Sussenguth. Dear grandfather of Andrew and Kaitlin McLeod of MO and Patric and Celia Tiberi of Needham. Walter is also survived by his sister in law Avis Sussenguth of Topsfield, ME and his many nieces and nephews. Funeral services at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Tuesday Sept. 26th at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours Tuesday Morning from 10-11:30 AM.
