In Loving Memory of Dwight Lee Brackett Jr. ("Bucket" or Lee)
November 16, 1956 – July 25, 2026
BUXTON- On July 25, 2026, Dwight Lee Brackett Jr., affectionately known by everyone as "Bucket," passed away peacefully at his home in Buxton, Maine, of natural causes. He was 69 years old.
Bucket was born on November 16, 1956, to Dwight Lee Brackett Sr., who predeceased him, and Rosella Shepard of Waterboro.
He is survived by his loving mother, Rosella Shepard; his siblings, Dan Brackett, Darlene Brackett, David Brackett, Debbie Young, Donna Sorgen, Dale Brackett, and Eric Roberts; his sons, Dwight Brackett III and his wife, Kerri, and Darrell Brackett and his wife, Cassandra.
Bucket's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Spencer, Braydon, Vance, Zach, Ellie, Peyton, Bentley, Xander, Sawyer, and Kameron, and his precious great-granddaughter, Natalie, all of whom brought him endless joy.
He also leaves behind JJ, who was like a daughter to him. JJ lovingly helped care for Bucket in his final years, and the bond they shared was one of unconditional love, laughter, and friendship. She held a very special place in his heart, and he loved her dearly.
Bucket spent his life doing what he did best—working hard. Whether he was drilling wells, farming, turning wrenches as a mechanic, or fixing just about anything that needed fixing, there wasn't much he couldn't do. He was a true jack of all trades, a problem solver, and someone people turned to when they needed advice or a helping hand. His knowledge seemed endless, and he was always willing to share it.
When the work was done, Bucket knew how to enjoy life. A proud member of the Southern Maine Tractor club, he loved tractor pulling almost as much as he loved a cold beer and good company. If there was a tractor pull, a cookout, or a "partay" happening somewhere in Southern Maine, chances are Bucket was already there with a beer in his hand, that famous snickering grin on his face, and a story that would have everyone laughing. Some folks measured time by the calendar—Bucket measured it by the next tractor pull and whether the cooler was full.
Bucket was the kind of man who made every room a little louder, every gathering a little more fun, and every friendship a little stronger. His mischievous grin, infectious laugh, and quick sense of humor were unforgettable. He never met a stranger, and he had an incredible ability to make people feel welcome. He worked harder than most, laughed louder than many, and loved deeply without needing to say much.
His family and friends will remember him not only for what he built with his hands, but for the countless memories he created, the laughs he shared, and the lives he touched. His legacy is one of hard work, loyalty, kindness, and living life to the fullest.
While our hearts are broken, we can picture Bucket exactly where he'd want to be—finding the biggest tractor pull in heaven, surrounded by old friends, a cold beer in hand, wearing that unforgettable grin, and making sure everyone knows where the "partay" is.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 25 Ricks Way, Buxton, Maine. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Bucket by sharing stories, laughter, and memories—because if Bucket taught us anything, it's that life is meant to be celebrated with the people you love.
Though Bucket may be gone from our sight, his stories will continue to be told, his laughter will continue to echo in our memories, and his spirit will live on in every tractor pull, every cold beer shared among friends, and every gathering where someone asks, "Remember when Bucket..."
