Obituary

AnneMarie Woods

May 2. 1938 - July 23. 2026

With profound sadness we share the passing of our cherished mother, AnneMarie Woods, who left this world at the age of 88. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort knowing her spirit will forever live on in the music she played, the quilts she stitched, and the love she gave so freely.

Born on May 2, 1938, in Westbrook, Maine, AnneMarie was the beloved only child of Albert Decormier and Mary Emma (Hayer) Decormier. She graduated from Deering High School in 1956 and continued her education at Westbrook Junior College, now known as the University of New England.

AnneMarie's life was filled with creativity and grace. Her passion for the piano began in childhood and blossomed into a lifelong devotion. At just 13, she performed with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, an accomplishment she was very proud of. She later joined Sid Lemon's Band and the Lyric Theater Band and Orchestra, too. Her music brought joy to countless hearts and filled her home with harmony. When she wasn't playing, Anne Marie found peace in sewing and ceramics, creating beautiful blankets and quilts that became treasured keepsakes for family and friends. She loved summers on Sebago Lake, where laughter, sunshine, and family togethemess were her greatest joys.

AnneMarie's greatest pride was her family. She leaves behind her loving children:

Donna Boyian and Diane Merrill of Jefferson, ME; Gerald Woods Jr. and his wife Cindy of Windham, ME; Theresa Paine and her husband Leonard of Shapleigh, ME; Sharon Stemmle;

William Woods and his wife Wendy of Windham, ME; stepdaughters Eva Kilmer and Gayle Jacker of New York; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her heart.

She was predeceased by her parents, her devoted husband Gerald Woods Sr., and her stepdaughter Linda Keator.

AnneMarie's kindness, laughter, and music will echo in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family will forever remember her gentle spirit and the love she poured into every note, every stitch, and every smile.

A graveside service to celebrate Anne Marie's life will be held at St. Hyacinth's Cemetery, Stroudwater Street in Westbrook, ME on Saturday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
