Daniel was born on February 18, 1944, in Diamond, Soufrière, St. Lucia, West Indies. The beautiful island of St. Lucia shaped the resilience, warmth, and vibrant spirit that remained with him throughout his life.
As a young man, Daniel relocated to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he began his career with Hess Oil and proudly served as a Supervisor. It was in St. Croix that he married and began raising his family. He later migrated to the United States and settled in New York, where he worked as a Building Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement.
After retiring, Daniel moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to be closer to his family. Boston became the final chapter of his journey, allowing him to spend more time near his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other loved ones.
Daniel was known for his strong work ethic, outgoing personality, and remarkable sense of humor. He enjoyed life on his own terms and loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and dominoes, listening to country music, sharing stories, and making people laugh. His warm smile, quick wit, and charismatic personality drew people to him wherever he went. Affectionately known as a true ladies' man, Daniel had a charm that could brighten any room. While he walked his own path in life, he loved his family deeply and took pride in seeing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.
Daniel was predeceased by his former spouse, Sheila Mathurin, who passed away in February 2025.
He leaves to cherish his memory his seven children: Michael J. Evans, John C. Evans, Francisca Evans-John, Stephen Evans, David Evans, Percy Evans, and Daniel Evans Jr.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Shalacia Evans-Davis, Stephen Koran Evans, Amari Evans-Muir, Micah Evans-Dandridge, Xavier Evans, Dacia Evans, David Jayland Evans, Nazaiah Evans-Noel, Luke Evans, Kendall Evans, Daniel B. Evans, Adrienne Evans, Erin Evans, Savanna R. Evans, Maya Evans, Michael Roman Evans, and John Cameron Evans.
His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Noah Owens, Abrielle Plentie, Carter Davis, Cadence Sutton, Zaidyn Davis, Amera Muir, and Lyric Evans.
In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Daniel shared a special bond with many members of the Mathurin family, whom he loved as his own. He held a special place in his heart for Allen, Tracey, Xavier, Lumina, Paul, Joanna, John Jr., Shelling, and Judith. Their love, companionship, and shared memories brought him great joy throughout his life, and they remained an important part of his extended family.
Daniel will be remembered for his laughter, resilience, generosity of spirit, and unforgettable personality. Whether he was spending time with loved ones, enjoying a spirited game of cards or dominoes, listening to his favorite country music, or sharing stories that made everyone laugh, he created memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Though he has departed this earthly life, Daniel's laughter, stories, and vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. His memory will forever remind us to cherish life's simple joys, share a laugh whenever possible, and hold our loved ones close.
