John L. McNeil, 94, of Daleville passed away on July 18, 2026 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on December 4, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to George and Mary Jane (Sowers) McNeil. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked production in Plant 17 at Delco Remy for 43 years and retired in 1993. He was a member of Daleville United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed mowing his yard and taking daily drives multiple times a day throughout Daleville to check up on the town.
He is survived by his three children, Karen McNeil of Daleville, Kathy (Ron) Killion of Muncie, and Michael McNeil of Daleville; a brother, Donald McNeil of Middletown; five grandchildren, Josh (Abby) Killion of Pendleton, Jeremy McNeil of Florida, Jennifer (Jeremy) Waymire of Anderson, Jalen Cooley and Kamee McNeil both of Daleville; five great-grandchildren, Elexis (Gavin) Roberts, Kalyn Turner, Addison Killion, Ava Waymire and Aiden Killion; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma Louise McNeil in 2008; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Dortha Ratz; two brothers, James and Robert McNeil; and a sister, Lois Hathcoat.
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Kyle Orr officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.
