
Veronica Lee Stephenson, known and loved as "Ronnie" and "Vee" was devastatingly called home on June 23, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Reverend Ison George Stephenson and Elizabeth (Matthews) Stephenson.
Veronica was raised in Bridgeton, New Jersey, the youngest of six children. After graduating from Cumberland Regional High School in 1978, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to pursue a career. Her first job when she arrived was a housekeeper at the Copley Plaza Hotel while pursuing her dream of modeling with the John Robert Powers Modeling Agency, and later held office positions with the Department of Public Transportation, the Boston Center for Independent Living, and Roxbury Multi-Service. In her later years, she found purpose working the town election polls, rising from clerk to warden.
As a preacher's daughter, Veronica kept God at the center of her life and was a longtime member of the Dorchester, Milton, and Abington Church of Christ congregations, as well as SafePlace International Ministry Center and Waking Up Thankful Ministry.
Vee was the heart of every family gathering, known for her style, her love of cooking, and the joy she took in her grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish wonderful memories, her daughters Kenya Stephenson and Jason Coburn (significant other); Ashlei and Acton Lezama (husband); and Brenda Stephenson and Nathaniel Bing (significant other) now of Brookshire, Texas; her grandchildren Janahya Mitchell, Kaela Stephenson, Acton (AJ) Lezama Jr., Jayden Lezama, Angellee Holman, Nova Bing, Juliana Lezama, and Nayomi Bing; her great-grandson Kairo Mitchell-James; and her sister Vickie Lynn Stephenson of Providence, RI. She was preceded in death by her siblings Juanita Matthews, Harold Stephenson, Terry Stephenson, and Brenda Stephenson. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at Blue Hill Church of Christ, 1505 Blue Hill Ave., Mattapan, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend
