
LACONIA ---- Paul Douglas French, 62, of 37 Fair Street, Laconia, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones on Friday July 3, 2026, in Laconia, NH.
Paul was born on April 16, 1964, in Laconia, New Hampshire, to the late Harold French and Elaine (Young) French. Paul was a lifelong resident of the community he loved. He was a self-employed sheet rocker and general contractor, where his dedication, skills, and craftsmanship earned him the respect of clients and colleagues alike. Paul took great pride in his work, leaving a lasting mark on the many homes and projects he completed throughout his career.
Paul will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, strong work ethic, and unwavering spirit. He was an avid golfer, (but very good). Well, he did get MVG in 2016 with a record pf 9-2-2, his team that year went on to win the championship. He was a member of the Lakes Region Industrial Golf League for 15 years. He showed up and took his membership seriously. He touched the lives of many through both his professional and his friendships. Paul never met a stranger and was nicknamed the “Charmer”.
He is survived by his sons, Eric T. French (Springfield, Missouri), his granddaughter Kelsi French (Gilford) and Thomas M. French (Phoenix, Arizona), his granddaughter Tayla French (Phoenix, Arizona); sister Valerie Johnstone and her husband Steve (Laconia); brothers David French and his partner Joanne Hurtado (LaCrestenta, CA) Harold (Skip) French and his wife Doreen (Concord) Mark French and his wife Holly (Bridgwater), and Tim French and his wife Donna (Gilford), along with several nephews and nieces, who will cherish the memories they shared. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Craig French.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 9:00am–11:00am in the Carriage House at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate his life.
A Graveside Service will take place on a later date at Bayside Cemetery, 1345 Union Ave, Laconia, New Hampshire 03246.
