Marcus Dewitt “Marc” (Hillery) Funderburk, 58, of Oak View, California, tragically passed away on May 19, 2022 in Oak View, California. Marc was born in Glendale, California to Madalynn (Guinn) Chamberlain and Dewitt Roland "Ron" Funderburk, Jr. on October 3, 1963. Marc was an established Ojai Valley local, who attended high school at Ventura High School, and had a fulfilling career working at Ventura’s wastewater treatment plant and as an independent handyman. He enjoyed being outside; finding joy in activities such as fishing, boating and camping. Everyone who knew Marc, knew him as a free spirit that had a passion for listening and producing electronic music. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his knack for friendly banter, and his sense of adventure. Words cannot express how deeply missed Marc is by his family and how devastated they are by his unexpected passing.
Marc is survived by his daughters, Kambria (Funderburk) Moreno, Maran (Funderburk) Scheer; Mother, Madalyn Chamberlain; Stepfathers, James “Jim” Chamberlain, Edward “Ed” Hillery; Brothers, Matthew “Matt” Funderburk, Sean Hillery, Edward “Eddie” Hillery; Sisters, Shemaine (Hillery) Croushorn, Rachel (Hillery) Kincaid; and his cherished dog, Leilani. He is preceded in death by his father, Ron Funderburk; his beloved fiance, Kari Kodish; and his stepson, Skylar Kodish.
To honor Marc’s dedication to his best friend and dog, Leilani, memorial donations may be made to in his name to Ventura County Animal Services, 600 Aviation Dr. Camarillo, California. The family encourages anyone that feels they may have valuable information to please reach out to his family or Ventura Police Department. A celebration of life was held privately amongst family and arrangements are under the direction of JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
