Warren J. “Bud” Dillman, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25th at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. He was 83. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Bud was the son of the late Warren J. Dillman and Ruth (Barnes) Currie.
Raised in West Haven, CT, Bud earned his bachelorate degree at the University of New Hampshire and went on to earn his PhD at Brooklyn Poly Tech. A resident of Norfolk, MA for over 40 years, Bud enjoyed a 35 year career as a chemical engineer with Polaroid Corporation.
Science and engineering came naturally to him. As a young man, he and his brother crafted and flew model airplanes. It was an interest Bud followed throughout his life. Bud was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Flying Aces. He also enjoyed relaxing and listening to music. As a skilled engineer and lover of music, he built and played guitars and ukuleles. While at Polaroid’s Headquarters, he often worked on projects with Dr. Land. Bud was a great fan of football, a lover of the outdoors and nature’s inhabitants. With all his talent and interests, nothing brought more joy to him than spending time with his wife Jo-Anne, their children, grandson and many friends.
The beloved husband of Jo-Anne (Szymaskiewiecz) Dillman, Bud was a devoted father to Warren “Scott” Dillman and his wife Anne-Marie of Holden, and Keri-Nicole Dillman and her husband Alex Hackman of Medford. He was a loving grandfather to Trent Dillman. Predeceased by his brother James M. Dillman and his wife Mary formerly of Mansfield, CT, Bud was a dear brother-in-law to Walter Szyms and his wife Lorraine of Boca Raton, and Bertrand Zalinsky and his wife Amy of Londonderry, NH. Bud also leaves several devoted nieces and nephews.
Bud’s family is planning a celebration of his life for a future date.
