With great sadness, we announce the passing of Pelagia (Papantoniadis) Kalaitzidis of West Roxbury, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 24, 2026. Beloved wife of the late George Kalaitzidis. Devoted mother of Pavlos Kalaitzidis of Greece, Kyriaki Kioroglou and her husband Dimitrios of West Roxbury, Konstantinos Kalaitzidis and his wife Polixeni of CA. Dear sister of the late Polixeni, Gregory, Stavros, and Maro. Loving grandmother of Helen and Pella Kioroglou, Betty Poulos and her husband Alex, George, Stathis, Katerina, Irene, Georgia, and Maria. Great grandmother of Niko, Gia, and Melina. Sister-in-law of Soula Papantoniadis of West Roxbury. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Kria Vrisi, Greece, immigrated to the United States with her family in 1970 to begin a new chapter. Through hard work and deeply rooted Greek Orthodox faith she built a life centered on love, family, and generosity.
She worked for many years as a seamstress, taking great pride in her craftsmanship. Outside of work, her greatest joy was caring for others. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she expressed her love through cooking, baking, and making sure no one ever left her table hungry. Whether family, friends, or someone visiting, everyone was welcomed with warmth, kindness, and a meal prepared with love. Her beautiful garden was always full of flowers and vegetables that she would share with everyone.
Above all else, Pelagia was the cherished matriarch of her family. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, comforting them through life’s challenges, and teaching them the importance of family.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory and strive to honor the legacy she created. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the traditions she passed down will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
May her memory be eternal.
Viewing hours at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 39 Belgrade Ave., Roslindale on Monday, June 29th at 11:30am. Followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
Interment in the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
