Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Buonopane, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on April 28, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Peggy was the daughter of John W. McCormick and Sarah H. (McSweeney) McCormick.

Peggy’s life was a beautiful testament to family, whether as a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, or friend. To her children, she was the heart of the family: loving, strong, generous, and always ready with a laugh. She leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who loved her.

Peggy raised five children, mostly on her own, while working a variety of jobs until she found a position at Boston Financial, where she worked for over 30 years. She made friends easily and treasured her monthly ladies’ dinners and road trips to Maryland. She enjoyed reality TV shows, Lifetime movies, crafts, and showing her competitive spirit during board games with her family and grandchildren. Peggy loved holidays and family gatherings, and her affection extended to the family fur babies, who always knew exactly who to visit for a treat. She was an avid reader, loved a good dessert, gave generously to others, and had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room.

Peggy will be deeply missed by her loving family, who will forever treasure her memory, including her children: Karl McIsaac, Charles McIsaac and wife Lisa, Linda Zarella, Sal Buonopane and wife Zulma, and Sandy DiBonaventura and husband Chad. Her life was also enriched by her adored grandchildren: Corine, Samantha, Sara, Hannah, Chris, Ella, Joey, and Ryan (Louie); her precious great-granddaughter, Raegan and great-grandson Jameson who she sent to us from heaven, wrapped in love.
One of eight siblings, Peggy was predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Hilda Davis, John McCormick, Teresa Libby, Joan Mormino, William McCormick, Robert McCormick, and Paul McCormick.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Quincy Yacht Club, 1310 Sea Street, Quincy, Massachusetts, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend. A funeral Mass and burial will take place at a later date.

Peggy generously supported many charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Shriners Children’s. In honor of her giving spirit and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to any of these charities.
