John F. LeClair
December 3, 1965 – June 15, 2026
John F. LeClair passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, after a brief battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare and rapidly progressive neurological illness.
Born and raised in South Boston, John was proud of his roots and carried that pride with him throughout his life. He was known for his quick wit, strong opinions, and larger-than-life personality. He was the kind of man who could make you laugh, tell you exactly what he thought, and leave an impression you wouldn’t soon forget.
John valued loyalty, family, and the friendships he built over a lifetime. He faced life on his own terms, with determination, resilience, and a stubborn streak that those who loved him knew well. Beneath that tough exterior was a man who cared deeply for his family and took pride in watching it grow.
John was predeceased by his parents, Edward LeClair and Elizabeth “Betty” (MacLean) LeClair; his sister, Catherine LeClair; and his brothers, Sheldon McLean and Edward LeClair.
He leaves behind a family who will forever carry his memory: his children, Stephen Andrews, Krystle Hairston, John E. LeClair, Logan LeClair, Brenden Healy, and Elizabeth Thorp; his beloved grandchildren, Haley Andrews, Stephen Andrews, Mylah Weekes, Julian Hairston, and Rian Hairston; his brother, Dennis LeClair and his wife, Loren Leclair; his sisters, Cindy and Betsy LeClair; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and all those whose lives were touched by knowing him.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Monday, June 22 from 4:00-8:00p.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Monica's Church, South Boston, Tuesday at 10:00a.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree
Though his time here ended far too soon, John’s stories, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
“May you always have a sunbeam to warm you, good luck to charm you, and a sheltering angel so nothing can harm you; laughter to cheer you, faithful friends near you, and whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.”
