He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Angela Louise Galvan; his father Dimas Galvan; his mother Guadalupe Barbosa Galvan; his sister Isabel Gamino, his brother Leonardo Galvan; his beloved mother-in-law Sally Cobos Vitela and beloved sister-in-law Virginia Bravo Loya.
George moved to the United States with his mother in 1962. He immediately began working, and together with his mother and brother, saved enough money to purchase a home in Ventura. Their hard work and determination made it possible for his father and the rest of his siblings to join them from Mexico. George raised his family in Oxnard with his wife of 58 yrs., Linda. He was employed as a Plastic Injection Molding Technician most prominently for Falcon Plastics and Allegretti & Company, before retiring in 2013.
He was deeply patriotic and proud to call the United States his home. One of his proudest moments was becoming a United States citizen, an achievement he cherished and celebrated. He was grateful for the opportunities this country provided and carried a strong sense of pride in being an American.
George found happiness in life’s simple pleasures-camping, nature, watching movies and wildlife/nature films, and spending time with the people he loved the most. Yosemite held a special place in his heart, and he never missed an opportunity to share its beauty with his family. He loved animals, including his puppy Nomar. He enjoyed, singing, dancing, barbecuing and treasured every family gathering big or small.
One of his greatest joys was taking his wife, children and loved ones to museums and on weekend road trips. There was hardly a place in California he didn’t explore or share with his family. He wanted his children to experience the beauty, wonder, and excitement of the world around them. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His love was constant, generous, and deeply felt. The memories he created-the laughter, the adventures, the songs, and the time spent together-will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His presence was a gift and his legacy of love, joy and commitment to us will never be forgotten.
