Mrs. Ruth L. (Putnam) MacLean 86, of Franklin died Tuesday September 19, 2006 at St. Camillus Nursing Home in Whitinsville, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Donald A. MacLean, who died in 1980.
Born in Boston, March 9, 1920 a daughter of the late Cornelius and Annie (Dunlop) Putnam, she formerly lived in Newton for most of her life before moving to Franklin in the 1990’s. She was educated in Newton Public schools, and was a 1939 graduate of Newton High School.
Mrs. MacLean worked for the Star Market Co. for more than 15 years. First in Waltham and then in Franklin as a clerk and bagger. She retired in November 2004.
She was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Tri Valley Elders. Her hobbies and interests included her family, bowling and her work.
She is survived by a daughter Lynne A. MacLean of Blackstone, a brother Roger Fleming of Pembroke.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with the Rev. Jeff Johnson, pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Wayland and the chaplain for Evercare Hospice, will officiate. Interment will take place in the family lot in Newton Cemetery, Newton, MA.
