Obituary

LACONIA ---- Cecile M. Wiley, 95, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at The Taylor Home Community. Sis, as she was known by her close friends, was given the gift of life on December 8, 1930, when she was born to Philip and Evelyn (Deblois) Morin in Laconia, New Hampshire.

She grew up in Laconia and enjoyed all that the changing seasons had to offer—from roller skating in the summer to ice skating in the winter. During her school years, Cecile was active in several organizations and proudly served as a member of the Laconia High School Cheerleading Squad. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1949 and later attended Plymouth State College.

As a young wife and devoted mother of two, Cecile remained deeply involved in her community. She served on numerous committees and contributed her time and energy to a variety of local projects for nearly 40 years.

A few years after her first marriage ended, Cecile enrolled at Plymouth State College as a part-time student. While raising her children, she pursued her education with determination, attending classes while they were in school. She treasured the friendships she formed during this time and appreciated the help her children gave her with “new math,” which she fondly joked she never quite mastered. Her love of learning remained a constant throughout her life.

In 1967, Cecile married Robert D. Wiley, MD, and embraced her role as stepmother to his four children. Together, they shared a busy and joyful life filled with family activities—attending ski races, football games, and countless other events. Cecile and Bob also enjoyed golfing and skiing, including memorable trips to the Alps. Their marriage was marked by 43 wonderful years together until Bob’s passing in 2010.

Following his death, Cecile continued her active lifestyle by volunteering at the Gilford Public Library. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and Mahjong, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Cecile was predeceased by her husband Robert D. Wiley, MD; her brother Robert Morin and his wife Jane and her stepdaughter Jean Eliott and her husband Joseph. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Baron of Gilford and her son Randy Pike and his wife Patty of Gilmanton. She also leaves behind three stepchildren: Christopher Wiley, MD and his wife Margaret (Corbett) of Portland, Maine; Mark Wiley and his wife Janice (Fickett) of Eliot, Maine; and Suzanne (Wiley) Young and her husband Tracy of Enfield, New Hampshire. Cecile also leaves 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

The family would also like to express their extreme gratitude for the kindness and loving care their mother received from the staff at the Taylor Home and Ledgeview during her time there.

Services will be held privately for the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cecile’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.
