Obituary

Beverly A. (Boyd) (Thayer) Selway, age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House with loved ones by her side on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born in Quincy on February 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Gordon L. Boyd and the late Bertha A. (Thayer) Boyd.

Beverly moved to 7 Vine Street, Wakefield (Greenwood) as a preschooler into a home with ultimately six siblings. She graduated Wakefield High class of 1955 with a concentration in business, enjoying her years there on student council and as a majorette.

In addition to being a homemaker and mother of four children, Beverly worked as an administrator in various construction and high-tech firms including Teledyne Technologies until her retirement.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in North Andover, where she married Brain J. Selway in 1985. They both enjoyed singing in the church choir together.

In her younger days Bev enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and skiing with family and friends. Travels to England and exploring new locations were always cherished. For many years Bev and Brian were snowbirds that wintered in Surfside, South Carolina. More recently, they treasured walks around the pond near their condo after dinner and hosting family Christmas parties at the clubhouse.

To all who knew her, Beverly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Family members include her devoted husband, Brian J. Selway: children, Scott Thayer and his wife Cindy, Glenn Thayer, Laurie Cacas and her husband Alex, and the late Karen Clark; grandchildren, Rachel Wall and her husband Christopher, and James Clark, Jr.: great grandchildren, Wyatt Wall and Mae Coburn: siblings, George Boyd, Raymond Boyd, Wanda Conroy, and the late Chester, Gordon and Richard Boyd: step-children, Jacqueline Fiore and Christopher Selway; step grandchildren, Kristen, Catherine and Jennifer Fiore, Brandon and Jonathan Selway and his partner Emily and their son, Colton: many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by services to be held in the funeral home. Services will conclude with interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody.
