
Michael Salvaggi Jr., age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by love after a long and courageous battle with numerous health challenges. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, to Michael Salvaggi Sr. and Grace Eleanor (Smith) Salvaggi, Michael spent much of his life working with his hands. Early in his career, he worked as a sandblaster at the Quincy Shipyard, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, he enjoyed model trains and model airplanes, hobbies that reflected his patience and craftsmanship.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Salvaggi Sr. and Grace Eleanor (Smith) Salvaggi; his brother, Anthony Salvaggi; his brother, Allen Salvaggi of New Jersey; Roberta Salvaggi, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories; and his beloved wife of eight years, Barbara Salvaggi, who passed away on December 14, 2025.
Michael is survived by his sister, Carmella Salvaggi; his longtime friend, Bunny; his stepchildren with Roberta, Eddie Gullett and his wife Jane Gullett of Taunton, Laura Gullett also from Taunton, and Krista Cajitas of North Carolina; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is also survived by Barbara's children, Sarah Roy and her husband, Casady Roy, Shayna MacVicar, and Joshua MacVicar.
In his final chapter, Michael was blessed with the love and support of Sarah Roy, Shayna MacVicar, and Casady Roy, who cared for him with compassion and devotion, bringing him comfort and peace throughout his journey.
Michael also loved animals, especially his beloved cat, Buttercup. During his final days, having Buttercup by his side brought him comfort and peace.
Michael will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, and the kindness he shared with others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A burial service will be held at Couch Cemetery in Marshfield, Massachusetts, at a date and time to be announced.
