WEBSTER – Richard S. Markiewicz, 69, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4, 2026 surrounded by family. His beloved wife of 40 years, Janet A. (Benjamin) Markiewicz, died in 2021.
He leaves a daughter, Crystal L. Strapponi and her husband Jason of Webster; a son, Richard S. Markiewicz II and his wife Lindsay of Woodstock, CT; 5 grandchildren, Julia, Evelyn, Benjamin, Luca and Vincent; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Webster on September 16, 1956 to Stephen J. and Alice (Ostrowski) Markiewicz and completed courses of study at Quinsigamond Community College.
Mr. Markiewicz was a pharmacy technician for many years before retiring.
He was a proud member of the AA community, having been sober for 46 years. He helped many individuals achieve that goal. He loved to collect antiques and make the rounds of flea markets. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going on road trips.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 10, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home and again on Wednesday, June 10, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.
