Robert E. Holt, 78, of 112 Whitehall Avenue, Mystic, passed away early Monday morning at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, just five months after the death of his beloved wife, Vivian E. (Robert) Holt, who died April 13th.
Bob was born in Mystic on November 6, 1927 one of 12 children to Thomas M. and Grace E. (Beauchamp) Holt. Raised in Mystic, he attended local schools.
He was owner and President of Holt Bros. Sanitation Company before retiring. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed building stone walls, playing pitch and the guitar, and will be remembered for his country music vocals at family events. He was also a member of the Charity & Relief Lodge of Masons.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Holt and his wife Lori of Mystic, Vickie LaFrance and her husband Tom of Mystic, and Barbara Campagna and her husband Joseph Jr. of Ashaway, RI; his siblings, Russell and Clarence Holt of Pawcatuck, and Edward Holt of Florida; his grandchildren, Eddie & Ryan Coats, Joey & Lisa Campagna, Keith Middlesworth; brother-in-law & close friend, Wilfred Robert Jr.; longtime friends Felice & Phyllis Nigrelli, nieces, nephews and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Robert Holt Jr. and Eddie Duerr III, a grandson, Nicholas Campagna; and his siblings, Rose “Tooty” LeBlanc, Alfred Holt, Charles Holt, Fannie Belle Holt, Thomas Holt, Marion Geyer, and Gladys Burdick.
Bob’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 6-8pm. A Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10am at the funeral home with burial following in the family plot at Elm Grove Cemetery.
