Obituary


Jeanette Virusso, a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on May 24th, at the age of 96. She was the loving daughter of Angelo and Mary Iavelo and the beloved sister of Josephine, Franklin, Anthony and Joseph.

After graduating high school, Jeanette had a wonderful career in the buying department of Filenes in Boston for over a decade before starting a family with her husband Michael, with whom she would share 69 years of marriage. Jeanette and Michael then started and ran a successful business, Gemini Insurance in Somerville, until they retired in their early 80’s.

Jeanette was also a constant presence at St. Clement parish in Somerville for several decades. During her time there, she taught both CCD and RCIA classes as well as being one of the first female Eucharistic ministers for the Church.

Jeanette leaves behind a legacy of three generations that include her sons, Michael and his wife Lisa of Foxboro and Carl and Carrie of Medford. She was also the most loving and caring Nana to Hailey and her husband Pete, Jared, Francesca, Violet, Alex and his wife Sui and Emily and her fiancé Tim. Jeanette was also the great-grandmother to Calix, Casper and Edward.

Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Sunday, May 31st from 4 to 8 PM, and again on Monday, June 1st at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
