Theresa Lee (Lake) Asselin age 79, passed on May 18, 2026, at the Palmer Healthcare Center. She was born on May 4, 1947, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late Jerrold W. Lake and Virginia (Whyte) Lake. Theresa attended school in the Athens area School District. She was a veteran, having served in the both the U.S. Navy and the Army Reserves as a Corpsman Petty Officer 2nd class E-5 and was honorably discharged. She also graduated nursing school in 1972 with an LPN Degree. Theresa was a loyal, honest and such a caring lady. She loved the ocean, sailboats, sewing, gardening, and rooting for the Boston Celtics. Theresa and Dennis were both poodle lovers and cared for their dogs Mickey, Ziggy and Jewel over their lifetimes. They took those dogs everywhere. Theresa was also, a devoted parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Cross Church for many years, where she volunteered with the meals program. Theresa was predeceased by her husband Dennis J. Asselin, who passed away in 2016, her brother Thomas Lake, her sister, Sharon (Lake) Perry and Jill Coyle. Theresa is survived by her three children through marriage, Dawn Asselin and her Life partner Tammy Clarke of Russell MA, Jennifer Dombrowski and her husband Mark, of Spencer, MA and Brett Asselin and his wife Kim. Theresa will deeply miss her beloved grandchildren Haley, Lauren, and Ryan, which she always made time for. Thresa is also survived by her two sisters, Lisa Lake of Waverly, NY, Paula Cekovsky of Westfield, MA, and by her three brothers, Daniel Lake of Lockwood, NY, Timothy Lake, of Athens PA, Tony” Jerrold” Lake, of Athens PA, and her aunt Sandra Whyte, of Athens PA, along with cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA. The funeral will take place Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 8:30-9:30 AM at the Grise Funeral Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Cross Church in Holyoke, MA at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will take place at the Calvary Cemetery, in Chicopee, MA, immediately following.
