Obituary

Israel Santana Santiago, of Woburn, passed away on Saturday, May 23rd. He was 73. Born and raised in Patillas, Puerto Rico, he was the cherished son of the late Cristino and Simona (Santiago) Santana.

Israel was laid back, easy to talk too, humble and kind. He was a natural people person and was known to take care of those who were in need of help. Israel made sure that everyone felt welcomed at his home and enjoyed their visits. He loved to garden, solve word searches and walks around the neighborhood pond.

Israel was a dedicated family man. He worked tirelessly to support his family. He loved his children and was proud of their accomplishments, but when it came to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were his world.

Israel was the devoted father of Myrian Torres and her husband Miguel, and Yolanda Fernandez and her husband Erick. He was the loving Guello of Giovanni, Eliana, Jr., Evan, Maiky and Taty. He was the caring Rata of Yessie and Jojo. He was the dear brother of David Santana, Clarita Santana, Maria Santana, Maribel Santana and Tata Santana. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Virginia (Morales) Santana, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Israel’s family at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, MA, on Saturday, May 30th, from 12 PM and invited to attend a service at 3 PM. Interment will be private.
