Robert L. Gordon, Jr., 68 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was the husband of Mary (Taylor) Gordon, with whom he just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary April 1.
Bob was born in Richmond, Virginia and was a son of the late Robert L. Gordon, Sr. and the late Diana Ann (Jakubowicz) Gordon. His upbringing began in Virginia until the age of six when his family relocated to Lowell, where he was raised and attended the area schools.
He worked as a Taxi driver for several years for A1 Taxi, and as an Uber driver in the Greater Lowell area for many years and truly enjoyed being out on the road. He loved spending time in the car, taking road trips, and driving.
Bob loved karaoke, and would travel to different venues to sing, often performing at the former J.J. Boomers and other local establishments. He loved discovering new places and had even recently been singing in Ohio while visiting family. He was also an avid fan of roller coasters and traveled around the country to experience different rides and amusement parks.
Bob was known for his sense of humor, he loved telling jokes, especially dad jokes, and enjoyed playfully joking around with others.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary Gordon of Lowell, he is survived by four children, Robert T. Gordon of Lowell, Rebekah Bower and her husband, Adam of Huron, OH, Sarah Gordon of Malden, and Emily Gordon of Nashua, NH; and his two cherished grandchildren, Bryce and Delaney Bower of Huron, OH.
Bob also leaves his siblings, Dana Gordon and his wife, Brenda of Lowell, Ann Furtado and her husband, Anthony of Nashua, and Carl Gordon of Littleton. In addition he leaves his aunt and uncle Gary and Dianne Jakubowicz of VIrginia as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his sister, the late Tammy Gordon as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026 all are welcome to attend the calling hours from 4-7 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. His funeral will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home, followed by the funeral mass at 10 a.m. at St. Marguerite D’Youville Church, 1340 Lakeview Ave. Dracut.
