
SPRINGFIELD – Allan J. Toussaint, 75, of the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and a former longtime resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, May 18, 2026. He was born in Green River, Province of New Brunswick, Canada on August 21, 1950, a beloved son of the late Camille and Rina (Ringuette) Toussaint. He was raised and educated in Green River and moved to Springfield in 1963 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as a finish carpenter and owned and operated Al Toussaint Finish Carpentry for many years. During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, wood working and making many walking sticks for everyone. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Diane L. (Desroches) Toussaint. They were married on July 9, 1993 in Springfield and were blessed with over 28 years of happiness together. He leaves his five loving children, Vicky L. Auclair and her partner, Michael Baran, of West Springfield, Renee Marie Auclair and her partner, Dan Trumble, of Enfield, CT, Jeremy A. Toussaint and his partner, Tammy Turner, of Wilbraham, Keith R. Gallagher and his wife, Paula, of West Pawlet, VT and Adam J. Toussaint of Chicopee; his five cherished grandchildren, Zachary Rios, Sophia Toussaint and Bailey, Marlee and Chadderson Gallagher; his three dear sisters, Diane Crafsic and her husband, David, of Chicopee, Nancy Toussaint of Canada and Brenda Toussaint of Ware; his three dear brothers in law, Serge J. Leclerc, Daniel Desroches, both of Chicopee and Donald Desroches and his partner, Cheryl, of Belmont, NH; his three dear sisters in law, Denise Toussaint and Cheryl Desroches, both of Chicopee and Ghislaine Toussaint of Westfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved feline companion, his cat William Toussaint. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his six dear brothers and sisters, Clarence Toussaint, Linda Toussaint, Elmer Toussaint, Gordon Toussaint, Camilla Leclerc, and Irena Remillard; his three dear brothers in law, Marc Ferland, Lionel Remillard and David Desroches; his two dear nieces, Lucie Toussaint and Laurie Crafsic; and his dear nephew, Stephen Crafsic. His family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private.
