Obituary

Shirley A. (Gorski) McGurn, age 91, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Friday, May 15, 2026.

She was the beloved wife of Edward F. McGurn, who passed away October 11, 2020.

Born in Stoneham on February 10, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. Gorski and the late Mabel E. (Fornier) (Gorski) LeBlanc.

She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden Girls Catholic High School.

Shirley held administrative positions at Raytheon in Waltham, the former Chistian Formation Center in North Tewksbury, the former Whiffle Tree Gift Shoppe in Billerica, and the Tewksbury Senior Center Gift Shop.

She was an active member and frequent visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Center and Senior Walk-In-Center, where she enjoyed the numerous social events and activities offered. In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Shirley was a longstanding communicant of St. William’s Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the church choir.

In her spare time, Shirley and her late husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad, as well as touring Amish country in Pennsylvania with her many friends from the St. William’s Parish community and visiting the Encore casino in Everett.

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael S. McGurn and his wife Mary, of Medford, Maureen A. Fanning and her husband Patrick, of Tewksbury, Stephen E. McGurn, of Dracut, Shalagh Peak and her husband James, of Moncks Corner, SC and Edward F. McGurn, Jr., of Seattle, WA: her grandchildren, Paul McGurn, Leah Fanning and Katie Peak. She was the sister of Helen T. Sampson, of Wilmington, Donald E. Gorski and his wife Arlene, of Wilmington and the late Stanley J. Gorski. Shirley leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

All are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Those attending are asked to meet at church. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury. There are No Calling hours. Please Omit Flowers.
