Westport, MA— Edmour L. "Eddie" Alix, 85, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of his high school sweetheart, Marylou (Silvia) Alix, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, Eddie was the son of the late Edmour I. and Constance M. (Cabral) Alix. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard of Massachusetts. In 1969, Eddie and Marylou settled in Westport, where he spent decades cultivating a home and yard he truly loved.
A master craftsman, Eddie worked for many years as a sample maker for Harvey Probber in Fall River. His exceptional talent took him around the globe, installing high-profile conference tables in international embassies and banks. Following the company's closure, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into starting his own business. Eddie had a true knack for fixing things—no matter the challenge placed in front of him, he could always figure it out, striving for perfection in everything he built or repaired. He possessed a wonderful zest for life and loved sharing captivating stories of all his worldwide adventures.
Eddie’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. As an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Westport, he faithfully served his community as both a eucharistic minister and a confirmation teacher. He gave generously of himself, always putting the needs of others before his own. An avid reader and a true outdoorsman, Eddie had a deep love for animals and found great joy in nature. Whether he was gardening, riding his tractor, fishing, camping, boating, or simply sitting on his front porch with his family, he cherished the world around him.
Above all of his achievements, family was what mattered most to him. He lived by the principle that family always came first. He absolutely adored spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—they truly meant the world to him, and he wrapped them in a lifetime of love and devotion.
In addition to his beloved wife, Marylou, Eddie is survived by his daughters Susan (Mark) Orzeck of Westport; Theresa (Marcus) Dion of North Attleboro; and Patricia (Kenny) Alix of Fall River. He is the cherished "Poppy" to Cory, Heather (Craig), Ashley (Ricky), Jason (Meri), and Karine (Russell), and the proud "Great Poppy" of Savannah, Charlie, Anthony, Carter, and Troy. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary (Roger) Michaud of Westport, his brother-in-law, Jimmy Silvia (Lisa), his sister-in-law, Linda Alix, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Alix, Michael Alix, and Ronald Alix.
Eddie’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his wonderful neighbors, who rallied around him with unwavering friendship and care. Each and every one of you truly added to his quality of life, and he cared so much for all of you. You were all true friends to him when it mattered most.
