Barnes, Philip S. Jr, of Plymouth, 77, on September 16th at home. Survived by his beloved wife Carol (Walter) and his children Hannah McCann of Ada, OK; Laura Sewall of Halifax; Emily Fernez of Plymouth and Philip S. Barnes III of Quincy. Brother of Brooks Barnes of Plymouth, Mercy B. Moore of Jenson Beach, FL; Souther H. Barnes of Plymouth and the late Parker L. Barnes. He also leaves 9 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 22nd at 11 o’clock at the First Unitarian Church of Plymouth, Town Square, Plymouth. There are no visiting hours. Mr. Barnes was born on Aug. 9, 1929 in Plymouth, MA to the late Philip S. and Mercie (Hatch) Barnes. He graduated from Pomfret Academy in CT, attended Williams College and graduated from Philadelphia Textile Institute with his Bachelors Degree in Science. He was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a driver for the past 5 years for the Duxbury Senior Center after working as a commercial driver for the P& B Bus Company for 16 years, was also part owner of Barnes Worsted in Kingston. He also played the chimes at the First Unitarian Church in Plymouth for 43 years and was a member of the Governor William Bradford Compact, the Pilgrim Society and life member at Plimoth Plantation.
Mr. Barnes died at home on September 16, 2006.
