Obituary

WEST NEWFIELD- Mary Carr Gleason, 71, of West Newfield, ME (formerly of West Warwick, RI), passed peacefully on Thursday, May 14th after a long and courageous battle with numerous health issues.

Born in Holyoke, MA, Mary worked for Bank of America in Providence, RI, for 37 years. Earlier in life, she held a variety of jobs, including working as a Candy Striper (volunteer) at Holyoke Hospital, a cocktail waitress, and a bookkeeper at New England Door Closers - experiences that built her strong work ethic and ability to connect with and touch the lives of people from all walks of life.

She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia R. (Oullette) Iacchini; her father, David E. Carr, Sr.; her stepfather, Lino A. Iacchini; and her brother, Lino J. Iacchini.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael Patrick, as well as her loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Ryan Patrick and Kathryn Marie Gleason of Acton, ME.

She also leaves behind four brothers, David E., Jr., Daryl, Robert, and James (Carr); four sisters, Irene (Iacchini) Prince, Christina (Iacchini) Stewart, Ruth (Iacchini) Dansereau, and Valerie Carr; her brother-in-law, David Gleason; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, including her best friend, Terry Greenwood of Kendall, NY. Mary will be remembered for her quick sense of humor, her deep love for her family and friends, and her ability to remain optimistic and appreciative of life, even through its most difficult moments.

There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Maine Health Home & Hospice, 15 Industrial Park Rd, Saco, ME 04072.
