
Anna (Junger) Merola passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family on Friday May 15th. She was 98. Born and raised in Morfelden-Walldorf, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Phillippine (Schulmeyer) Junger.
Anna came to the United States in 1948 with her husband Robert Merola and settled in Medford to raise their family. A proud and loving mother, Anna devoted herself to the care of her family. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals and loved going out shopping. She was a beloved fixture in her neighborhood as her children were growing up and made sure everyone felt welcome in her home. A bright and talented woman, she was a self-taught pianist and accordionist. She especially enjoyed playing and singing during family gatherings and holidays. Her biggest joy in life over the past decades was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The beloved former wife of the late Robert Merola, Anna was a devoted mother to Linda Pawlowski, Roberta Merola, Louis Merola and his wife Sharron, and William Merola and his wife Dianne and the late Sandra Russo and her surviving husband Gene. She is proudly survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jason, Tara, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole, Adam, Kayla, Robert, Anthony, Raina, Joey, Mica, Kaylan, Gracie, Mila, Payton, Henry, Andrew, Liam, Ava, Lucy, and Audrey. Anna was the dear sister of Frieda and the late Fritz, Lore, Bine, Gertrude and Elsa. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Road, Medford, on Tuesday, May 19 at 10 AM. Please gather inside the main gate for procession to graveside.
