Obituary

Morse, Carol Ann (Tupy) aged 95, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2026, in Sherborn, Massachusetts. Born on November 8, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, Carol lived a remarkable life filled with educational pursuits, family, and a deep passion for music.

Carol grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and then came east to earn her BA in Italian from Wellsley College. In 1950 she spent a year abroad in Italy. She also later earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music at Boston University.

A gifted singer with a profound appreciation for opera, Carol found joy and fulfillment in sharing her musical talents. Whether performing or simply enjoying the beauty of song, music was an integral part of her life. She soloed in and directed church choirs in Southboro and Sherborn, MA.

Always a staunch advocate for public education, she was one of the early women trail blazers who served on a school board in the state of Massachusetts, proudly serving on the Southboro School Board in the early 1960’s.

A 60-year resident of Sherborn, she loved her town, home and the birds that enlivened each day at her bird feeder. She was able to live in her home until her last breath due to the loving care and support provided by her son, Steven, to whom rest of the family is forever grateful for.

While she lived her adult life in Massachusetts, she had a warm affection for the family farm located in Farmer City, Illinois, and spent the last three decades of her life as the Farm Manager for that enterprise.

Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donal F. Morse; her sister, Ruth Mary Brown; and her parents, Leslie T. and Ruth M. Tupy. She is survived by her three sons: Colin Morse (Eva), Steven Morse, and Earle Morse (Pamela); four grandchildren: Gaelen Morse, Angelica Burns (Peter), Benjamin Morse (Molly), and Samuel Morse (Mackenzie); as well as two great-grandchildren Adelaide and Eloise Morse.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Pilgrim Church, 25 South Main St., Sherborn, MA. Reception to follow. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Sherborn Benevolent Society, 11 Maple Street, Sherborn, MA 01770.
