Barretta - Arthur J, age 64, died suddenly on September 16, 2006, just a few weeks short of his sixth-fifth birthday, at Holy Name Hospital, the same hospital where he was born. Beloved husband of Sara Erlich Penchuk, he was a devoted stepfather to Andrew and Matthew Penchuk, their wives Laura and Carrie Penchuk, and an adoring grandpa to Benjamin and Jackson. Additionally, he was a loyal brother, uncle and cousin, as well as a wonderful friend and neighbor. Artie was truly a renaissance man, with a tremendously wide range of interests and talents. He served proudly in the United States Navy and Merchant Marines, with tours of duty on the U.S.S. Magoffin, The U.S.S Marine Fiddler Tak267, and the U.S.N.A.S. Glynco as a navigator, and was one of the youngest to achieve the rank of Bosun's mate. He was also a professional pilot, restauranteur, chef, business man and raconteur. Artie owned and operated the Deep Sea Clam Bar in Teaneck and Deep Sea Fish Co., a family business for 60 years. Artie's unique warmth, and willingness to extend himself made lasting impressions on everyone who crossed his path throughout his life, which ended way too soon. He will be missed.
