Sabino John Cataldo, aged 89, of Malden passed away on Friday, May 8th. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Eugene and Helen (DiGiovanni) Cataldo. He was raised in Boston’s West End and eventually settled down in Medford where he raised his family.
Sabino was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Cummings) Cataldo, and the devoted father of Sabino "Sonny" Cataldo, Jr. and his wife Tracy, Jeanmarie Cataldo and her late husband James Carozza, Anthony Cataldo and his wife Lisa, and Michael Cataldo and his wife Tina. He was the loving grandfather of Stephanie Devine, Janelle Cataldo, Nicholas Cataldo, Deanna Belanger, Sean Tibbetts, Kevin Tibbetts, Anthony "A.J." Cataldo, Colby Cataldo, Michael Cataldo and Francesca Cataldo. Sabino was the cherished great grandfather of nine, and the dear brother of Geraldine Cataldo and the late Eugene Cataldo. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Sonny, as his friends and family knew him, was a retired Lieutenant of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office. He enjoyed cooking for his family, passing along many delicious recipes to his children and grandchildren. Sonny loved a good cigar while sitting in the sunshine and enjoying his family. His laughter and humor will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
