Obituary

Tadesse Belachew, beloved son, brother, pharmacist, and friend,
passed away at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Gerar Sefere, Asco—in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia—Tade carried
with him a deep love for his homeland while building a meaning-
ful life and career in the Washington, D.C. area, where he lived and
worked for many years.
Tade was the cherished son of the late W/ro Mulunesh Zegeye Sakore
and Ato Belachew Teferi Adem. He was a loving brother to his sisters:
Meskerem, Meron, Meseret, Miheret, Tigist, and his brother, Aman
Belachew. His family was at the center of his life, and he extended
that same warmth, generosity, and care to countless friends as well as
strangers who became family through his kindness.
As a Doctor of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist, Tade dedicated
his professional life to caring for others with compassion, integrity,
and excellence. He approached both his work and personal life with
humility and charity, always willing to help anyone in need. Whether
through a warm meal, thoughtful advice, or his comforting presence
during difficult moments, he gave freely and wholeheartedly.
Tade lived life fully, on his own terms, carrying himself with a happy
disregard for outside judgment, and somehow made that one of his
most charming qualities. He embraced life with a flair for occasional
extravagance, never hesitating to indulge in life’s finer and sometimes
whimsical pleasures. He had a rare gift for being entirely himself,
without apology and without pretense.
A lifelong learner, he had an insatiable love of reading and a gift for
storytelling, often sharing his thoughts with a uniquely sharp and un-
forgettable sense of humor. He found joy in biking, music, volleyball,
nature, and being in the company of others. He treasured connection,
community, and the beauty of everyday life.
Tade was full of life and deeply loved by everyone who knew him.
People were drawn to his fun spirit, his infectious and uproarious
laughter, and his genuinely generous soul.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Tade’s legacy of
love, generosity, strength, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who
knew him. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for
the countless lives he touched.
