Pamela Ludwig, a woman of immense creativity, devotion, and spirit, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with illness. She was 79 years old.
Born on March 6, 1947, to Robert and Ruth Ellard, Pamela lived a life defined by the threads of family and connection. While she was an accomplished and award-winning quilter - known for the intricate patterns and vibrant colors (especially purple) that mirrored her own personality - her most cherished masterpieces were the people she loved. Though her artistry with a needle and thread earned her accolades, she often said her proudest roles were those of mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She created a sanctuary for her family, where her two children and four stepchildren were all held in the same deep embrace; she loved and raised them all as her very own.
Pamela was preceded in death by her beloved husband David Ludwig, who passed away on December 15, 1995. Together, they shared a lifetime of exciting adventures, traveling the world and exploring new horizons. Whether camping with the family, navigating distant lands or enjoying the quiet beauty of home, they were true partners in every sense of the word. Sadly, her husband was taken from her far too soon leaving an emptiness in her heart. Eventually, she found wonderful companionship with Jim Curtin. Jim brought a new spark to her life, encouraging her to step outside her comfort zone and try new things - from the excitement of snowmobiling to the lively atmosphere of bluegrass festivals.
She was loved by her brother - Robert (and Jackie), sister - Deb, many beloved nephews - David, Todd, Phillip, Patrick, Jimmy, niece Tracy, six children - David, Danny (and Karina) Celeste, Rhett (and Tiffany) Karen, Keith (and Cheri) , a large family of grandchildren - Shawn (and Gel), Chris, Casey, Jamie, Amber, Noah, Ian, Rocky, Seth, Brady, Rachel, great grandkids - Riley, Mia, Jade who were all the light of her later years.
Pamela’s life was a beautiful tapestry of service to her family and passion for her craft. She will be remembered for her spunky personality, her love of a good zinger, and the quiet strength she showed until the very end.
A visitation will be held at on Wednesday May 13, from 4 to 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road in Londonderry. A private burial is being held by the family.
