Maria (DiGirolamo) Dello Russo passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on May 5th. Born in Marsala, Sicily, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Bernardo and Giuseppa (Titone) DiGirolamo.
Maria came the United States with her family when she was 10 and settled in Boston’s North End. She was a loving wife, mother and nonni. She married Robert J. Dello Russo 55 years ago and they soon began their wonderful family. Maria loved to be at home with her family and kept a welcoming home where there were always beautifully prepared meals. She and Bobby enjoyed vacations in Florida, nights out on the town for dinner and dancing and Maria always enjoyed a day out shopping. As her grandsons came along, Maria focused her love and energy on caring for her boys and never missed one of their games or events.
The beloved wife of Robert J. Dello Russo, Maria was a devoted mother to Michael Dello Russo and his wife Carolina, Sabrina Dello Russo and her partner Shawn Corey and Robert Dello Russo. She was a loving nonni to Leonardo, Luciano and Lorenzo. She was the dear sister of Angelo DiGirolamo and his wife Anna, Paula D’Ambrosio and her husband Emilio, Caterina Tenaglia and her husband Tullio and Salvatore DiGirolamo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at Saint Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St., Boston’s North End on Tuesday May 12th from 9 – 11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
