Francis Xavier Gregorio, born on December 3, 1948, in Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago, passed away peacefully after a long battle on May 1, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. Francis was the beloved son of the late Antonia (Marine) Gregorio and Emmanuel Gregorio. Raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Francis carried the warmth, culture, and spirit of his homeland with him throughout his life. In 2004, he migrated to the United States, beginning a new chapter while remaining deeply connected to his roots. A master tailor by trade, taught by Mr. Finely of Trinidad, Francis was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity. His talents extended beyond tailoring into the vibrant world of Caribbean culture—he found great joy in beating steel pan, creating elaborate carnival costumes, sewing, traveling, and “liming” with family and friends. His presence brought energy, laughter, and authenticity to every gathering. He is survived by his children, Mesue Wyre, Luann Plaisance, and Andel Scott; his grandchildren, Serenity Cambridge, Nathanial and Preston Plaisance; his siblings Lita Thomas, Philomena Frank, Malcolm Gregorio, Clint Gregorio, Mary and Martin Figuera; nieces and nephews of the Thomas, Hunte, Frank, and Gregorio families, and a great-uncle to many others. He also was cousin to the Lara, Marine, Ashhill, Young, and Vidal families. He also shared a lifelong friendship with John Salandy of Trinidad, Mark Caldoron of Randolph, MA, and Marva Nichols of Brockton, MA; a bond that reflected his loyalty and deep connection to those he loved. Francis is predeceased in death by his mother and father Antonia and Emmanuel Gregorio as well as his brother, William Figuera. Francis Xavier Gregorio will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his artistry, his vibrant spirit, and the love he shared with his family and community.
Visitation will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday May 12 from 10 am until 12 noon.
