WEBSTER ā Arthur J. Bonin, 88, of 24 Pepka Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 16, after an illness. His wife of 59 years, Julia P. (Gorski) Bonin, died in 2005.
He leaves 3 daughters, Jane L. Barnes and her husband Stuart of Leicester, Lillian A. Bonin of Webster and Diane M. Strzelecki of Dudley; 4 grandchildren, John Barnes and David Barnes and his wife Amy, Jessica and Michael Strzelecki; a great grandson Brady; a sister, Robea Richards of North Oxford; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Saint Eugene, Canada, the son of Joseph and Mary (Lamontagne) Bonin. He moved to North Oxford in 1931 and then lived in Webster for over 50 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Bonin was a meat cutter at the Stop ānā Shop in Worcester for over 30 years before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Louis Church, where he was a collector and volunteer for the annual church festival. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #654 and the Webster-Dudley Knights of Columbus Council #228. At one time, he volunteered as a firefighter for the Hugenot Fire Station in North Oxford. He enjoyed bowling in leagues, playing pitch, and watching sports events. He cherished his grandchildren and his great grandson.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the funeral home.
