
Edward J. Thomas, 92, of Glocester, RI, passed away on Saturday, May 2nd at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice. He was the husband of Rita (Pelosi) Thomas. They were married for 70 years.
Born in 1934 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late George C. Thomas and Lillian (Parker) Thomas.
He was a US Marine Corps veteran having served from 1953-1956.
Ed had worked for the telephone company as a lineman; a C.W.I.; as a contract work inspector; union president and E-board member of the RI AFL-CIO. He was a life member of the Smithfield Elks.
Ed loved walking in the woods, car swap meets, looking for buried treasure in old foundations. He loved dressing in plaid, spray painting everything John Deere green, and anything rusty. He especially loved his dog, Cleo.
He leaves his children, Patricia (Thomas) Dorgan and her husband, Kenneth; Edward G. Thomas and his wife, Janice; Shawn J. Thomas, the late Brian J. Thomas; and Sara (Thomas) Henderson and her husband, John. He was the grandfather of 14; great-grandfather of 8 and great-great-grandfather of 1. He was the brother of the late George Thomas.
His funeral is private His burial with Military Honors will be at the RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Visitation will be held Thursday May 7th from 4pm to 7pm.
