Manton B. Bruce of Marstons Mills, MA, born on May 20, 1944, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 at his home with his loving family by his side on April 18, 2026. He was a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life for almost 55 years, Mary Jane (Carchedi) Bruce, and a loving devoted father to Jennifer H. Bruce of Lakeville, MA and Mason B. Bruce of Clermont, FL.
He was the son of the late Harold G. Bruce and Katherine F. Bruce of Arlington, MA. Brother to Violet C. Bruce of England and the late Barton F. Bruce of Arlington, MA and uncle to many nieces and nephews. His greatest joy was his family whom he was so lovingly devoted to. He was a wealth of knowledge on just about any subject. His passion for history, his curiosity and wonder of all things never wavered. He lit up at the site of any animal, was a true fanatic of vintage cars, enjoyed feeding the birds and he loved his sweets!
Manton was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone, family, friends, even strangers. He was a problem solver, and he knew how to get things done. A regular “McGyver” at heart. Everyone who knew him knew what a good man he was and what a huge heart he had. Often, he would be the guy in the room who got people laughing with his quick-witted remarks. He was our rock and we will miss him deeply. We will cherish the time we had with him, the memories we built with him, and not a day will go by without thinking of him. Our loving husband and father will never be forgotten; he will be loved, cherished and in our hearts always and forever.
A celebration of life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
