SPRINGFIELD - Richard A. Stasiowski, 86, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 30, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home in Chicopee on June 26, 1939, a beloved son of the late Max J. and Eleanor (Maziarz) Stasiowski. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and had moved to Springfield in 1972. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was the longtime owner of Orchard Auto Sales and Service in Springfield for almost 50 years. He was a communicant of the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee. He was a member of the Swift River Sportsman’s Club in Belchertown. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Margaret M. (Harris) Gorter Stasiowski. He also leaves his two loving step children, Catherine Gorter of Spencer and Robert Gorter and his wife, Lauren, of Jacksonville, FL; his three dear brothers, Ronald M. Stasiowski, John A. Stasiowski and Michael E. Stasiowski and his wife, Franceen, all of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving daughter, Ann Eleanor Stasiowski who was Called Home on April 23, 2022; his loving stepson, Paul F. Gorter who was Called Home on March 28, 2010; and his dear brother, Robert J. Stasiowski who was Called Home on August 13, 2022. His family will receive friends on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
