Susan D. (Morovitz) Ruben, a resident of Nahant for many years, died peacefully at her home on September 17, 2006. She was 58 years old.
Born in Everett, daughter of Pauline (Berkowitz) and Burton Morovitz of Canton, MA and St. Thomas Virgin Islands. Susan was raised in Everett graduating from Everett High School. Susan went on to study and graduate from the Carnegie Institute in Boston, MA. Susan was a social worker and Human Rights Officer, employed by Bay Cove in Dorchester, MA where she worked for many years. She also received numerous awards for her outstanding work.
Susan was the wife of the late Dr. Jeffrey Ruben and was the special friend and long time companion of George Milonopoulos of Nahant. She was the beloved mother of Jesse M. Ruben and his wife of Deganit of Savannah, GA, and the dear grandmother of Jordan Sydney Ruben. Dear sister of Frederick and his wife Lydia of Everett, MA; and Martin and his wife Nancy of Weymouth, MA; and dear sister of Marcia Cornute and her husband Jerome of Sharon, MA. Susan is also survived by her Uncle Lester and Aunt Peggy Morovitz of Lynn, MA and her nieces Naomi and Miriam Cornute and Maretta Morovitz.
Funeral Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Avenue(Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Tuesday, September 19,2006 at 12:00 Noon. Rabbi David Meyer of Temple Emanuel, Marblehead will officiate. Burial will take place in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Morovitz in Canton, MA through Thursday evening September 21st.
